Youth Ministry
The Youth Ministry of Providence Baptist Church strives to glorify God by exhorting, comforting, and charging Providence youth to Walk Worthy of God. Our task is to accomplish the priorities, purpose, and vision of our church in a way that is relevant to teens' lives yet Biblically separate from the constantly changing ways of current culture. We are not entertainers, comedians, baby sitters, or event planners. Our desire is to keep the truth of God before them so that, as they personalize our great God, a passion for God will stir up within them.
CrossRoads
CrossRoads is our junior high Sunday School program which meets at 11:00 am in the Gymnasium nine months out of the year beginning September 7th. CrossRoads is tailored directly to the needs of today's 7th-8th grade students during this important transition of their life. During the summer months, the junior and senior high programs unite in the Youth Center to handle special topics relevant to all.
DIG
DIG (Discipleship-in-Groups) is our senior high Sunday School program which meets at 11:00 am in the Youth Center nine months out of the year beginning September 7th. During DIG, teens go to small groups where a dedicated Youth Staff member leads a discussion time and Bible study on topics relevant to where teens are at mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Some small groups are even gender specific to better meet current needs and pressures of today's youth. A variety of topics are covered, and each topic lasts for only six weeks to keep it fresh and exciting. During the summer months, the junior and senior high programs unite in the Youth Center to handle special topics relevant to all. A list of our winter and spring classes is coming soon.
Walk Worthy Bible Study
The WW Bible Study is at the "heart" of our Youth Ministry. On Wednesday nights from 7:00-8:10 pm in the Youth Center beginning September 3rd, 7th-12th grade teens take part in individual and team competition centered around the study of God's Word. For nine months, teens are challenged to take part in a number of activities that cultivate Christian growth and arm them to do battle in their walk with God. Our Bible Study time is completely God-focused as we meditate on His promises, precepts, and principles.
STORM
This teen outreach event is an opportunity for the youth of Providence Baptist Church to put into practice what they have learned from God's Word. There is something for everyone. Whether they are comfortable and well practiced or timid and inexperienced, everyone needs to gain more of a burden for the lost and a better understanding of how to communicate God's saving grace. Our teens go out on STORM Outreach on the last two Wednesdays every month from 2:45-4:00 pm to public schools, parks, and other heavily teen-populated areas for the sole purpose of inviting teens to our STORM outreach event. The event takes place the first Wednesday of every month from 6:30-8:00 pm. Teens enjoy extreme competition, free pizza, the Gospel message, and did I mention...FREE PIZZA!
Summer Camp
Every summer our youth attend camp at the Wilds. It is a wonderful opportunity for them to be refreshed in the beautiful surroundings of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, establish iron-sharpening friendships with other believers, and renew a vibrant relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ as they are removed from the many distractions of life and saturated with the Word of God. Next summer, we will be attending camp during the week of July 13-18. The speaker will be Rand Hummel, Assistant Director of the Wilds.
ParentLinC
Parent LinC stands for "Parents living in Christ and loving in Christ that they may model Christ to their children." This Parent Ministry exists to equip and encourage parents as they disciple their teenager(s). We see our ministry as partners with parents. Our goal and focus for Parent LinC is to continue to develop and establish more open communication between parents and the Youth Ministry. Two ways in which this is currently taking place is through informative materials and our interactive yearly fellowship dinner.
Activities
Activities have a special place in our youth ministry. The purpose of youth activities is fourfold: contacts, competition, counsel, and companionship. Activities really open doors for ministry of the Word to teens and their guests - a vitally important reason to make activities a priority! Over in the sidebar, upcoming activities are displayed for your convenience. To view all activities, please go to our Calendar of Events.
